Five Nambanners participated in the Spartan Super obstacle race in Minakami, Gumma pref. on September 8th. The event entailed running for 10k up and down the steep hills of a ski area and conquering 25 obstacles such as monkey bars, heavy object carries, wall climbs, and a rope climb.
Yuko, Yoko and Taeko competed as a team, running together and assisting each other over the obstacles. They finished in 2:52:04, one of the fastest all-female teams and 34th overall team, as well as being among the most team-spirited and jubilant.
Quint and Jay competed in the Age Group category. Quint captured 24th in his age group in 2:01:04 and Jay finished 2nd in his age group in 2:00:04. Quint was among the fastest in the race on the strength obstacles. While Jay was among the slowest on these early obstacles, he managed to overtake much of the field on the long run sections toward the end of the course.
The group is planning to do a similar event next year and hope other Nambanners will join.
