Mara Yamauchi finished in 6th place in the 2008 Beijing Olympics Women’s Marathon and won the 2008 Osaka Ladies’ Marathon. After retiring from running in 2013, she qualified as a UK Athletics Coach and now coaches endurance runners of all abilities. But before becoming the second fastest British female marathon runner ever, Mara ran briefly with Namban Rengo. In Tokyo recently for a series of clinics, she was kind enough to spend some time with a group of Namban runners, leading us in dynamic stretching, running drills and a short but intense workout. It was a great morning — instructive and inspirational. Bevan Colless of Tokyo Physio was also on hand to provide advice on injury treatment and prevention. Thank you Mara and Bevan!
