• What did you do during Golden Week? Yuta Suda decided to run 479 times around a 400m track for 24 hours in the Urugi 24-Hour Running Challenge. Total 191.6km. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but he seemed to enjoy it (except for the end – the last km took 20mins.). And he got 3rd place!! It didn’t even take him long to recover – he was doing long training runs soon after.
• On the 10th, three Namban ladies had a great day. Rie Onodera, Yukiko Tsukada and Yukari Oimatsu participated in the Fuji Five Lakes Photo Rogaining event (similar to orienteering) and finished First in the Women’s division!! It took them six hours — a great victory!
• At the MxK 5,000m race at Kinuta Koen on the 15th, George Nicholson ran an excellent 17:24.
• On the 29th, Sylvian Dufros ran the Todabashi 10K in a new PB of 41:28. And his daughter Sophia ran her first 1K race.
• Padraig MacColgain and Kim Man Li ended the month with a 43.6km trail race in Sugadaira: the Skyline Trail Race. Their first race in 15 months.
• Also on the 30th, Kota Torii ran a 5,000m track race in Kawaguchi, turning in a good time of 16:48 in rain and strong wind, and George Nicholson was back for another MxK race, this time 10k on the Arakawa, where he finished in 37:02.
