Mike Trees was down in Australia for the Gold Coast Marathon on the 1st, where he ran the Half in 1:14:58, winning his age group by 10 minutes and posting the year’s fastest time for UK age group runners. Yuko Takamuki, Mika Tokairin and Carol Cunningham were also there.
That day in Hokkaido, Rika Homma ran the rainy Hakodate Marathon in 3:23:28, for third in her AG.
Obuse Half Marathon: as always, hot, hot, hot. Braving the sweltering conditions were Alan Cannon 1:32, Daigo Asada, Nick Coyle 1:38:41, Shohei Nemoto, Rika Homma, Faith Geraghty, Yuri Kambara, Chika Kanai 1:39:20 7th AG, Andrew Farmer 1:48:59 and Geraldine Nogami.
In Germany, Dennis Büchner ran the Hamburg Hella Half Marathon in 1:25:43 on a very warm day. He was 111th out of 5,333 men — in the top 2%!
The race up Mt. Fuji was held on the 27th. Eric Lebrasseur ran a very good 3:32:20, finishing 83rd. Yuichi Kanamori reached the top in 3:55:45 (296th). Rie Onodera ran to the summit in 4:39:50 but Yuki Seshimo was stopped at the 8th station due to the cutoff time.
