On Thursday March 21st, a holiday, eight Namban Rengo men took part in the Tamako Ekiden (35 mins. west of Shinjuku). We fielded two four-person teams, each person doing 7.24k on the rolling path around Lake Tama. Our A team of Yuta Suda, Phil English, Yoann Potiron and Jay Johannesen was very strong (average 3:36/k and that includes about 60m of steps up a hill), finishing 11th out of 354 teams in a high-level field. The B team of Matt Thomas, Yasuo Hayakawa, Mark Shrosbree and Youri Lavoine placed a very respectable 27th. This is a nice event—not too big, not too small—hope more people will join next year. Thanks to Kota Torii for organizing the teams.
